Collision
sends five to hospital, police charge man with DWI
LANCASTER, N.Y. (WIVB) - An accident in Lancaster sent five people to
the hospital.
A two-car collision sent five people to the hospital. Lancaster
Police say they responded to the accident around 11:20 p.m.
Monday. They say 23-year-old Eric Berst of Kenmore
caused the crash. Police charged him with driving while
intoxicated and failure to keep right.
Police say Juliette Peterson of Buffalo
operated the car that was hit. Three other passengers in that car
include a 43-year-old male, a 29-year-old female and a 13-year-old
female. The 13 year old is at Children's Hospital Tuesday morning
recovering from facial, hip and leg injuries.

Mercy Flight called in Lancaster crash that leads to DWI charge

One driver was injured and a second was charged with driving while
intoxicated following a head-on crash involving two SUVs in Lancaster
late Monday night, Lancaster
police reported today.
Both drivers and three passengers were taken to area hospitals,
following the collision that occurred shortly after 11 p.m. Monday on Walden Avenue,
near Sheldon Avenue.
Police say a westbound SUV driven by Eric J. Berst, 23, of Kenmore,
crossed into the eastbound lane, striking the eastbound SUV driven by
Juliette Peterson, 30, of Buffalo.
Peterson was taken by Mercy Flight to Erie County
Medical Center,
where she was being treated in the emergency room and expected to be
transferred to a regular room.
Three passengers in her vehicle, two adults and a 13-year-old girl,
were taken to area hospitals with a combination of facial, leg and
other injuries, police said.
Berst also was taken to ECMC, where he was treated and
released into the custody of Lancaster
police. They charged him with DWI and failure to keep right, and police
said additional charges are expected.
